The Irregular

The Irregular is the 42nd novel by Gerald Seymour and the sixth to feature Jonas Merrick.

As the story begins Merrick’s latest operation is already well underway. He has been tasked with bringing down an “untouchable” organised crime boss Lachy Wilson,

Previously thought to be too big to bring down because of all the corrupt police on his payroll, Merrick has identified a weak link in his organisation, namey his daughter and heir, Julie.

He engineers a “chance” encounter between Julie and former soldier and now flying squad police officer Kenny ‘Chopper’ Harris. There is instant attraction.

Julie is heading to Germany to check on a lorry load of heroin that’s on the way to England. Chopper has to meet her and convince her to betray her family.

A complication arises when an attentive border official notices Julie and Chopper together and passes word to an anti-corruption unit. They are soon on their way to Europe to shadow Chopper who they believe to be corrupt and working for Wilson.

Meanwhile Wilson is starting to have doubts about the people around him. Even his daughter.

Another entertaining entry in the series.
